What's the big idea?

I have learned, in my many years of life, that television is a better experience if it's a shared experience. What I mean by this is the Watercooler effect. There is a reason why that term has stuck out the long-haul - we all know what it means. The Watercooler - before computers, Tivo and coworkers that you're trying to avoid - has long been understood as a gathering place at which to discuss the latest TV show and the happenings from the night before. The Watercooler is all but dead in this information age, but the blog has taken the torch and decided to run with it.

There are other sites that do what I am about to do better than I ever will. A couple you can find here and here. They're written by smart, funny people, and you'd do yourself a disservice in reading my blog over these sites. But if you're lazy and don't feel like clicking, well - read on.

I hope to use this forum as a place to discuss my views on TV shows that I watch. These include, but are not limited to:

- All My Children (ABC): I have been a faithful viewer of this soap opera (off and on - which is really contradictory to the word "faithful") for nearly 20 years. No joke! This show cracks me up, annoys me and has even made me cry on occassion. I'm not saying I'm proud of it, I'm just saying it's been known to happen.
- Grey's Anatomy (ABC): This is my new favorite show. I missed the first 3-5 espisodes, which will hopefully be rectified when greedy ABC releases the first season DVD set.
- Scrubs (NBC): This is my old favorite show. I'm currently obsessed with it. I've dreamt about Zach Braff a couple of time. This blog ain't about hiding the truth, folks!
- Bringing Home Baby (TLC): Dudes, this show is mad funny. What is more of a train wreck to watch than witnessing the first 36 hours of a newborn's arrival to his new home? How do the parents act and react? Does the family dog pee on him? It's so awesome.
- Lost (ABC): This show is so annoying, I should boycott it. But I won't. I watch this show about 3 weeks after I Tivo it. So don't expect timely commentary.
- Law & Order: SVU (NBC): I've also dreamt about Chris Meloni.
- House (FOX): My dad turned us on to this show. It's about 85% super cool and 15% ridiculous.
- Repeats of Friends (Syndicated): Yes, I still watch this show almost every day.
- Desperate Housewives (ABC): I swear, I was the first person who saw through this show. It's cloying, obnoxious, unrealistic and overwhlemed with too many plots. However, I still try and keep up because stupid Felicity Huffman is everywhere, and I need to stay current with her crappy storyline.

Oh, there are more shows I watch and have opinions on, but this is a start. If you have any requests, just let me know. And then I'll decide if I care.
